Helping Young People Make Safe Healthy Relationships

CRUSH is a structured programme of group support and empowerment for young people in the age range of 13 - 19 who have witnessed, experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

CRUSH aims to help you gain the skills, knowledge and tools to be able to:

  • Avoid abusive relationships
  • Exit an abusive relationship safely
  • Help you with your exposure to domestic abuse within your home environment

The CRUSH Programme is suitable for young people of both sexes and can be helpful to those who are vulnerable to domestic abuse and also for those who are beginning to show signs of controlling behaviour. We are also able to deliver the sessions to groups of peers, for those of you who feel more comfortable with people that you know. The programme has been designed to complement the information on relationships given in  PHSE lessons.

CRUSH has been evaluated by the University of Worcester, and endorsed by the Safeguarding Boards within the counties of West Mercia as a safe and appropriate programme for young people.

Meet the CRUSH Characters

  • Using these characters you create a fictional world, ultimately deciding the fate of these four individuals.
  • You build up their characteristics from their names, through to where they shop and what music they listen to.  We then pair them into two couples.
  • One will be a healthy couple, one will be an abusive couple.
  • Through several scenarios you will decide who experiences abuse, what they do, if and how they get help, will they "put up with it" or be led to a place of safety?
