Refuge Co-ordinator - Worcestershire Refuges

30 hours per week

Salary of £25,908 p.a. FTE (Pro-rata payment of £21,007 p.a.)


6 Month Contract

from 1st October 2020 to 31st March 2021

(with potential extension, subject to funding)


West Mercia Women's Aid (WMWA) is continuing to provide much-needed support for women and children affected by domestic abuse.  Despite the constraints of the current emergency, our refuges are fully operational and are run in accordance with government guidelines for the safety of staff and residents, including the provision of appropriate PPE


We are looking to appoint a Refuge Co-ordinator to oversee the management of the two communal refuges in Worcestershire for the remainder of 2020/21

We are looking for someone who has..........

  • Experience of a management role in supported accommodation
  • Evidence of success in managing and supporting services for women and children
  • A good understanding of the impact of domestic abuse and on the needs of those made homeless as a consequence
  • Strong commitment to working in an empowering way

Your role will include.........

  • Line management and supervision of refuge staff
  • Responsibility for all aspects of health and safety practice in both refuges, including COVID-19 compliance
  • Oversight of the maintenance, repair and renewal needs of both refuges, and ensure that all contractors deliver best value
  • Monitoring the income and expenditure of both refuges
  • Management of the interface between refuge and dispersed 'safe house' accommodation
  • Maximising the engagement of service users in evaluating the impact of their experience of refuge service
  • Engaging with housing providers across the county as part of a project ot increase and enhance the availability of safe accommodation for those fleeing domestic abuse in Worcestershire

An understanding of the importance of maintaining clear professional boundaries is essential in this busy role

  • 30 hours per week - fixed term contract to 31st March 2021
