Today we have the following Refuge vacancies:

Sorry, we have no vacancies

Employers Event Speakers

Actress and TV Presenter Lynda Bellingham was one of the speakers at a partnership event specifically aimed at business owners and HR Teams across the West Mercia Region.

West Mercia Women's Aid joined West Mercia Police and The Worcestershire Forum Against Domestic Abuse for Domestic Abuse: The Hidden Costs to YOUR Organisation at Sixways in Worcester, where we aimed to highlight the impact of domestic abuse on businesses, and to show how best to support employees experiencing abuse. Lynda spent many years too scared to speak out about the abuse she was suffering at the hands of her husband, worried that she would lose her job as the 'Oxo Mum'.

West Mercia Women's Aid has secured the support of key Shropshire business mentors at a recent 'Dragon's Den' style event in the county, designed to forge partnerships between local voluntary organisations and businesses.

West Mercia Women's Aid has welcomed the announcement that the legal definitions of domestic abuse will be broadened to include non-violent abuse, and will also apply to young people under the age of 18. The new guidelines come into effect in March 2013, and it is hoped that they will help raise awareness of domestic abuse, and also help ensure that more prosecutions are brought forward as a result.
